2 Timothy 3:2, 4

Terrible Times In The Last Days

2 Timothy 3:2, 4
Imagine a time in history when, "People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unloving, slanderous, without self-control, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form of godliness but denying its power." (What a description of many inside and outside of today's churches!)
Does this sound like today's world or not? So, when were these words penned? Almost 2,000 years ago in the Word of God. This prediction was prefaced with these haunting words: "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days."
Sounds like we're there.
How can we change? God's Word says, "the Scriptures are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ." So study God's Word. Believe what it says about how to be saved from ungodly character. Live what it says, for we all are running out of time.

Philippians 4:10

The Dangerous Game of Comparison--- Philippians 4:10

--- B. Wright
An armchair philosopher once declared, “Don’t try to keep up with the Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It’s cheaper.” I applaud his creative solution to this age-old problem, but prefer God’s advice on the subject. God tells us to just not play that game at all.
We fall into a destructive trap when we compare ourselves to others, because the fact is, there will always be someone who has more than we do. On Monday we are so proud of our shiny new car, but on Tuesday, a newer one is parked in the driveway next door. And that 42″ plasma TV will soon pale in comparison to your brother-in-law’s 60″ inch model with surround sound. Here’s a guarantee in life – no matter what you acquire, somebody, somewhere, is going to have something newer, shinier, and more powerful.
So what’s the harm in comparing ourselves to others? Comparison takes our eyes off the blessings God put into our lives. When we compare our things with others, we get envious and can begin to feel that we deserve more than they do. Comparison cheapens our appreciation for what God has done in our lives, and we can easily shift from gratitude to envy. God wants us to be content with how He has blessed us in life.

IS A SAVED PERSON SURE OF HIS SALVATION?

IS A SAVED PERSON SURE OF HIS SALVATION?

Many good men of whose salvation there can be no question, have at times had doubts, and have suffered acute distress. In some cases the doubts have a physical origin resulting from a gloomy disposition. In others, they arise from too much introspection. In others again, because their conscience reminds them of sins not yet overcome. You must remember that you are not saved because of your feelings, but because Christ died for you. If you have sincerely repented and are trusting entirely in Christ to save you, and are living in his strength a godly life, you have the right to thank God for saving you, in spite of your doubts. If you cannot take his word that those who come to him through Christ have eternal life, you should ask him to forgive you for doubting him. You may be quite sure that he will keep his promise, whether you have the joy of assurance or not. ---- G. Sandison

What is regeneration?

What is regeneration?

Regeneration is being born again, and is the work of the Holy Spirit, by which we experience a change of heart. It is perhaps better expressed as being "born anew from above" (John 3:7), being "awakened" (Ephesians 2:1). Christ coming into the heart (Galatians 4:19), "renewing of the mind" (Romans 12:2), the "purifying" (Titus 3:5). Man is not the author of his own regeneration. The change consists in the recovery of the moral image of God upon the heart, leading us to love Him supremely and serve Him as our highest end. It is wholly the work of the Holy Spirit. The change is in the heart and the will--in our moral and spiritual faculties. The natural faculties, being dominated by the will, while they may resist for a time, ultimately follow the change. The evidences of regeneration are conviction of sin, sorrow and repentance, faith, love and devotion to God. In regeneration we receive from God, whereas in conversion we turn to God.------ G. Habakkuk 2:2

Write the vision and make it plain . . . ---- Habakkuk 2:2

Habakkuk describes his vision as, "The burden which the prophet ... saw" (Habakkuk 1:1). He "saw" it wherever he went. It drove him to his knees. He prayed, "O Lord, how long shall I cry, and You will not hear? ... Why do You show me iniquity, and cause me to see trouble? ... the law is powerless, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; therefore perverse judgment proceeds." Before God blesses you with a plan of action He will burden you with the problem you've been called to help solve. Lewis Braille wanted to read and write. But at three years of age he was blinded in a tragic accident while playing in his father's harness shop. Refusing to settle for a world of darkness he said, "I will make a system so that the blind can read and write." As a result, millions of sight-impaired people have been blessed by the Braille system (you see this in elevators and other public places).

The Psalmist cried: "The zeal for my Father's house has consumed me ... (Psalm 69:9 NAS). What's your all-consuming desire? What are you passionate about? What has God called and gifted you to do? Paul's burning desire was to reach the world for Christ. And he succeeded. When his enemies imprisoned him, instead of giving in to defeat he turned his cell into a writer's retreat and penned thirteen epistles that would change more lives after he left the world than he could ever hope to touch while he was in it. What are you willing to give your life to, and for? If your vision is truly of God, you will "feel" it.

Colossians 3:1-3, 5-6, 8--10

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at God's right hand in the place of honor and power. Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth. For you died when Christ died, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God . . . So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual sin, impurity, lust, and shameful desires.  Don't be greedy for the good things of this life, for that is idolatry.  God's terrible anger will come upon those who do such things . . . but now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don't lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old evil nature and all its wicked deeds. In its place you have clothed yourselves with a brand-new nature that is continually being renewed as you learn more and more about Christ, who created this new nature within you. -- Colossians 3:1-3, 5-6, 8--10
